Tech Against Terrorism is proud to launch a new educational initiative in London schools to help students and teachers recognise and reject hateful, intolerant, and extremist content online.
London, 28 August 2025 - We are proud to launch a new educational initiative in London schools to help students and teachers recognise and reject hateful, intolerant, and extremist content online. The project is designed to address the growing risk of radicalisation in digital spaces, where extremist groups exploit social media, gaming platforms, and messaging apps to target young audiences.
Supported by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, who announced investment from the £16M Shared Endeavour Fund to support over 20 initiatives across the capital, to fight hate crime, intolerance and extremism in all its forms. Sadiq Khan said, “I’m committed to working in close partnership with communities and the police to ensure everyone in the capital feels, and is, safe and welcome.”
Tech Against Terrorism will deliver the workshops to over 1000 London students in schools to help them recognise harmful and radicalising content online.
Adam Hadley CBE, Founder and Executive Director of Tech Against Terrorism, said:
“Supporting young people to navigate online spaces safely is central to our mission. Through the Mayor’s funding, we're able to work directly with young Londoners to provide them with practical skills to identify concerning content, understand reporting mechanisms, and support their peers. We're grateful to the Mayor’s Shared Endeavour Fund for supporting this initiative, and look forward to working together to strengthen digital resilience amongst London's young people and their communities.”
The bespoke training programme from Tech Against Terrorism consists of interactive workshops for students, while also supporting teachers. The sessions will focus on teaching how to think rather than what to think, building critical thinking skills and digital resilience for pupils. Workshops will be supported by a robust monitoring and evaluation framework, including pre- and post-session surveys, feedback forms, and qualitative reflections to refine delivery and measure impact.
Research highlights how recruiters exploit mainstream platforms including social media platforms and gaming environments to disseminate propaganda before steering users toward less moderated or encrypted channels. Tech Against Terrorism, in partnership with QuantSpark, has created The Trusted Flagger Platform (TFP), a tool that works closely with social media platforms to monitor, reduce, and remove terrorist content. The secure online platform enables partners to submit terrorist content removal requests while also providing insights and content analysis. Since 2020, Tech Against Terrorism have alerted 133 different tech platforms to over 50,000 pieces of terrorist content, of which over 70% has now been removed.
