Five things to know about Telegram, the messaging app in the sights of French authorities

More recently, Telegram has been in the news for  its role as a powder keg in the anti-migrant riots in the United Kingdom . The UN-backed organization Tech Against Terrorism had issued an urgent alert concerning the insufficient moderation of the platform, which has fewer than a dozen moderators, compared to 15,000 for the Meta group. The application is known for attracting delinquents, conspiracy theorists, terrorists and hackers. It is not uncommon, for example, for cyber pirates to resell stolen data on it. It is often at the heart of notorious legal cases.
