"Countering Extremism Online: Information Assurance in Action" event co-hosted with IAAC and the British Computer Society in London

The Tech Against Terrorism initiative is co-hosting an event with the Information Assurance Advisory Council (IAAC) and the British Computer Society on " Countering Extremism Online: Information Assurance in Action." Information assurance can often seem like a theoretical concern with abstract consequences. But when it comes to policing the spread of violent extremist content online, the threat is readily realisable. But when is ideology “extremist”? How should such content be handled? Is censorship appropriate? And what can practically be done to contain and counter extremist messaging? Can machine learning and artificial intelligence provide the answer, or do they open us up to censorship via the backdoor? Join us at the London headquarters of the British Computer Society as we explore these questions and many more.
