Human Rights and Countering Terrorist Use of the Internet

This E-Learning Webinar is suited for:
  • Tech professionals wanting to incorporate human rights safeguards into their counter terrorism practices.
  • Government or law enforcement officials interested in understanding the human rights safeguards needed when investigating terrorist use of the internet.
  • Researcher or civil society representatives who would like to learn more about the crossroads of human rights and online counter terrorism.
For our first webinar of the 2023 Tech Against Terrorism & GIFCT e-Learning series, we will take an in-depth look into how online counter terrorism and violent extremism efforts may impact human rights, and how to mitigate against human rights risks. We will discuss how human rights are translated into the online realm, and which rights are the most at risks of infringement when countering terrorist and violent extremist use of the internet. Together with a panel of human rights and tech sector experts, we will discuss how tech companies can practically act on their human rights commitments, and incorporate the necessary safeguards in their counter terrorism policies and processes. We will also discuss how government-led counter terrorism efforts and cooperation with the tech sector may impact human rights. This webinar session will finish with a Q&A session that is open to all attendees.
More information about the speakers and the agenda will be shared soon.
