This webinar is organised in partnership with the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT).
For our August webinar of the 2022 Tech Against Terrorism & GIFCT e-learning series, we take an in-depth look into how misogynist and male supremacist violent extremist actors use the internet to spread their ideologies online, as well as the challenges in effectively identifying and moderating such behaviour. The threat of gender-based violent extremism has grown significantly over the past decade, alongside the multitude of online spaces dedicated to spreading misogynist and male supremacist violent extremist ideologies. These spaces present a unique threat of networked actors, seeking to spread violent extremist narratives in clandestine spaces. In this webinar, we will discuss the current threat landscape of misogynist and male supremacist violent extremism, with a focus on how offline violence relates to the online world. We will also discuss current responses to the misogynist and male supremacist violent extremist threat, and why misogynist and male supremacist online content presents a unique content moderation challenge for tech platforms.
As always, this webinar session will finish with a Q&A session that is open to all attendees. More information about the speakers and the agenda will be shared soon.If you would like to sign up to this free webinar, please register with your institutionally affiliated email address – note that registration does not guarantee participation, and access to this webinar will be limited. This webinar will be held under Chatham house rules.
