This webinar is organised in partnership with the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT).

  • Are you interested in learning about how terrorist and violent extremist groups use online platforms to fund their operations?
  • Are you a tech professional interested in learning more about how to protect your platforms from being used for terrorist financing?
  • Are you a researcher, government official, or civil society representative and would like to learn more about emerging challenges in terrorist financing and potential policy solutions?
For this Tech Against Terrorism & GIFCT webinar, we investigate terrorist use of the internet for financing purposes and the challenges it represents to the existing global counter terrorist financing framework. Together with an expert panel, we will examine how terrorists and violent extremists exploit not only financial and payment services, but also social media platforms and online marketplaces, to raise funds online. We will also examine how tech companies can respond to this threat, and outline how the global counter terrorist financing framework could adapt to these emerging challenges. As always, this webinar session will finish with a Q&A session that is open to all attendees. More information about the speakers and the agenda will be shared soon. If you would like to sign up to this free webinar, please register with your institutionally affiliated email address – note that registration does not guarantee participation, and access to this webinar will be limited. This webinar will be held under Chatham house rules. About our webinar series Tech Against Terrorism and the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) are pleased to present our series of e-learning webinars for 2021.
