Tech Against Terrorism is pleased to award WeTransfer the Tech Against Terrorism Trustmark in recognition of the platform's robust counterterrorism practices.
As part of the evaluation process, Tech Against Terrorism conducted a comprehensive examination of WeTransfer's content moderation policies and their effectiveness in responding to terrorist exploitation. The assessment found that WeTransfer's approach to content moderation, particularly regarding counterterrorism, demonstrates strong practices that align well with Tech Against Terrorism's expectations for tech platforms.
Several aspects of WeTransfer's operation merit particular recognition: the translation of contractual content standards into accessible 'simple speak' language, the clarity and conciseness of enforcement policies, the publication of detailed and informative transparency reports, and the platform's express commitments to protecting user rights whilst maintaining proportionate moderation. The user reporting mechanism, which enables reports directly from individual file transfers with minimal steps, represents an effective model for platform safety. Overall, WeTransfer demonstrates how platforms can create safer environments by combining automated detection with human decision-making within a principled and structured framework.
