The Tech Against Terrorism Project is holding our final startup workshop of 2017 in Brussels on 5 December. The aim of the workshop is to reach out to the tech startup community in Belgium, and discuss responses to the terrorist use of online platforms and services.  The Brussels workshop is designed to educate startups on the nature of the threat and the ways in which their platforms might be susceptible to exploitation, to learn what particular vulnerabilities firms' might have identified, and to ascertain the best means for the Tech Against Terrorism team to provide support. The morning sessions are open to all attendees, but the afternoon workshops are closed for tech companies only. Our aim is to get as many tech startups from Belgium attending. In particular we're interested in startups that provide social media, communications, data storage, fintech or block chain services - as these are the areas that can provide propaganda and operational applicability for terrorist groups. This event will also afford networking opportunities with representatives of some of Tech Against Terrorism's major industry partners.  Tickets for this workshop are free but are subject to availability.  Please note that tickets are limited to 2 per organisation.  Tech Against Terrorism is a global campaign designed to help fight the terrorist exploitation of technology, in support of the knowledge-sharing component of the “ Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism”. Together with leading tech companies, our focus is on building practical tools to help startups develop responses to the exploitation of their services, whilst reinforcing the importance of human rights and protecting fundamental freedoms. To this end, we are engaging with startups around the world to identify their concerns and the best ways in which we might be able to provide assistance. Our partners include major tech companies such as  FacebookGoogleTwitter and  Microsoft, and startups including  SoundCloudTransferWiseJustPaste.it and  Yellow. Please visit our website on  www.techagainstterrorism.org for more information or get in touch with the Tech Against Terrorism team at contact@techagainstterrorism.org with any questions you may have. We hope to see you in October! Tech Against Terrorism is being implemented by the ICT4Peace Foundation for the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (UN CTED), pursuant to UN Security Council resolution 2354 (2017) and the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee.
